Your Local FunFlicks - Now Hiring!
Our event techs are the collective machine that drive our business and make the FunFlicks® magic happen. They are responsible for arriving at an event location on time, setting up screen equipment, and taking everything down at the end of the night. Your shift will begin with clocking in at your local FunFlicks® warehouse or storage unit. After retrieving all the right equipment from the storage location, you will arrive at the event site. There, you’ll set everything up and prepare to play what the customer desires at their chosen start time. For larger events, you will work with a team of other hosts. Expect to work solo for smaller inflatable screen events. Don’t worry, your local FunFlicks® owner and senior technicians will help train you until you feel ready. In your training, you will learn the importance of organization and technical troubleshooting.
Organization and Technical Troubleshooting
Organization is vital in order for you and your coworkers to find the proper equipment required for an event. Practicing proper organizational skills will greatly help in keeping our state-of-the-art equipment wellkept and having a fast onsite set up. Technical troubleshooting is necessary for the equipment to function properly and professionally. You will get more and more familiar with the audiovisual setup with each event you work. Before you know it, you’ll be able to set up an event in your sleep!
Inflatable Screen Event Technician
Many of our event technicians across the nation begin their work with inflatable movie screens. It’s the bread and butter of the FunFlicks® experience. Most of our customers rent inflatable movie screens for outdoor movie parties. After working as a junior technician on 3-4 events, you’ll feel confident in knowing how to set up. Once the screen is blown up and the mixer is linked with speakers, you’re already almost done. Sometimes, customers like to play music or do pre-movie activities. Be sure to ask them what they prefer to play at their personalized FunFlicks® party. The last piece of equipment that needs to be properly positioned and focused is the projector. The projector is typically set up last due to daylight interference with the projector's display. The darker it is, the better our movie theater-quality projectors will display high-resolution video.
After you’re done setting up…
You’ll be responsible for staying during the event and taking the equipment back to the storage location at the end of the night. Yes, you really are getting paid to watch a movie while being a hero for your community.
LED Screen Event Technician
There are two main kinds of LED screens that we have: LED trailers and LED display walls. LED technology is the future of FunFlicks® and is used at higher-end events. LED trailers require towing from your own vehicle or a company truck if provided at your FunFlicks® location. The trailers require very little time to set up; simply power the screen with the onboard generator or connect shore power from an outside source. After properly adjusting the screen and configuring the panels, your work setting up is basically complete. LED walls take more time to put together. The panels themselves need to be locked in and supported by scaffolding or stands. For an LED wall event, you will usually be working with a team of other technicians. At most FunFlicks® locations, you will be paid more to work LED screen events than inflatable movie screen parties.
What does it take to work for us?
We are hiring for a variety of positions, ranging from entry-level to experienced technicians. Event hosts, drivers, and supervisor roles are all being considered for hire. Most importantly, we are looking for applicants who are motivated to learn and work hard and who also have a passion for entertainment and technology. Creatives, outdoorsmen, innovators, musicians, laborers, movie buffs, and tech-savvy people are all welcome to apply and will most likely love working for us.
Requirements
- Able to lift and carry heavy objects (50 lb. speakers, sandbags and other gear)
- Available to work most weekends and some weekdays
- Basic understanding of Audio and Video technologies (Projectors, speakers, etc)
- Have a valid driver's license and current Auto Insurance
- Recommended to have a SUV, minivan, truck or similar vehicle, able to transport equipment or to pull a small trailer
- You must be professional, friendly, and able to communicate effectively with our customers
- Clean background and Driving record
