Planning a Party for 100 People
Are you wanting to celebrate a birthday, have a neighborhood block party, gather with coworkers, or just throw a memorable event for 100 people or less? Since 2001, we have helped customers around the nation throw their own parties and have the best tips for you to have an unforgettable time. Follow our guide to plan the best 100 person party.
Finding the Best Location for a Party of 100 People
Choosing a place to have your party is a great start to planning your event. Consider an area that can fit your guests along with chairs, tables, or equipment; the comfort of everyone at the party is key to having a successful event. If you wish to have tables or chairs but do not own enough, simply rent them from a local business or borrow them from friends. There's nothing wrong with telling guests to bring their own chairs or blankets to sit on as well. Throwing a party at your home, church, business, school, or nearby park are all great spots. Be sure to ask for permission if the property you want to throw a party on is not under your ownership. If your event is going to be in an outdoor public setting, make sure you follow local noise ordinances and acquire movie licensing for a watch party.
How do I license a movie?
Check out our movie licensing page to purchase a license or read our blog to learn more about movie licensing.
Prepare the Area
There should be restrooms and trash cans available wherever your party is held. In the restrooms, check if the area is clean and if there is enough soap and toilet paper available before guests arrive. You don’t want people leaving the party due to dirty or unavailable restrooms. Minimize the after-party cleanup by placing trash cans around the place; this not only makes your job easier as a host but is the courteous thing to do, especially if your event is being held at a public location. Also, turn off all sprinklers to avoid a surprise water party if your event is going to be outdoors.
Prepare for the Elements
Is bad weather in the forecast? Don’t let a little rain, wind, or snow ruin your fun. A smaller party for 100 people or fewer allows flexibility in where they can gather. Throwing your event indoors is a great way to combat the threat of a storm causing a change of plans. If you’re worried about bad weather and want to have an outdoor party, keep an eye on the forecast and remember that predictions are subject to change.
What if I need to reschedule my party due to weather?
We offer weather-related rescheduling on the morning of the event. If you choose to cancel or reschedule your event before the day of, fees may apply. It is suggested to wait it out until the morning of the party to get a better idea of what the outdoor conditions will be. Many of our inflatable movie screens can only withstand winds under 15 mph; we can’t provide our equipment if winds are too high for the safety of you and your guests. Weather-related difficulties are always a bummer for everyone, which is why we will help you reschedule so that the fun can happen on a better, brighter day.
Invite Your Guests
After you’ve chosen the best location for your party, it’s time to decide on a date to invite your guests. Hold your party on a Friday or Saturday night for the best turnout. People tend to have more free time on the weekends when work or school schedules do not conflict. It’s recommended to send your invitations at least two weeks before the party date so that guests can plan accordingly. Invitations can be sent digitally through social media, text, or email to save time and money. Include an RSVP notice within your message to get an idea of how many people plan on arriving. For downloadable party invitations, visit our party invitation page for premade and custom invitations.
Pick a Screen for a 100 Person Party
You have the freedom to play video games, sing karaoke, watch movies, stream live sports, or display anything on the big screen for your 100 person party with our fleet of state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment. We have a variety of screens crafted for party people around the nation who want to throw events with unique locations, crowd sizes, and circumstances. Examine the attributes of our different screens to determine the best one for your event.
Inflatable Movie Screen for 100 People
The inflatable movie screen is a FunFlicks® classic that has been enjoyed by people across the United States for 20+ years. Built with seamless white displays, our inflatables are perfect for high-quality projection. Tech-savvy event technicians will arrive at your location to set up our high-definition speakers, movie theater quality projector, and inflatable screen in less than 2 hours. The Premiere 21’ is the perfect screen for those expecting more than 100 guests. With a 16x9 display and the screen itself towering at 21 feet, your crowd is sure to catch every glimpse of action. If you wish to have a drive-in party for 100 people, the Premiere 21’ is recommended to be shown to about 50 cars more or less. It’s recommended to wait 10-15 minutes before sunset for optimal viewing if your party is outside.
LED Screen for 100 People
For those who want the highest quality screen that can be viewed at any time of day, we recommend going with our LED screens. FunFlicks® LED screens have a pixel pitch of 4.1mm, allowing them to provide a bright display at a high resolution. Our LED panels are also rated IP65, which means they are both water and dust proof. The MAX 158 is an excellent choice if you’re planning on having a party for 100 people. Due to their superior quality, LED screens are more expensive to rent than our projector screens.
Theme for Your 100 Person Party
The theme of a party brings everything together as a unified celebration. Without a distinct theme, the party can become disorganized in its purpose. If a Halloween party were to be held without creepy decorations, costumes, spooky music, or any other visual aspect that indicates celebration of the holiday, guests would feel less immersed, and overall enjoyment would be low. Having a distinct theme elevates the overall purpose and is simply more fun for everyone. Even if your event is not being held to celebrate a holiday, there should be a unique theme. For example, if you want to have a summer pool party with friends and neighbors, a luau with blue streamers, a beach volleyball tournament, hula skirts, tropical drinks, and a showing of Jaws all reflect the theme very well. Tie in activities, snacks, drinks, utensils, costumes, music, and a movie for the most immersive experience.
Activities for a 100 Person Party
Before the main event begins, get your crowd excited with some activities! Instead of waiting around for everyone to show up at your party for 100 people, involve the arriving guests with fun party activities to build anticipation for a memorable time.
Video Game Competition
Challenge your guests to a video game competition where the winner takes all. Your gaming console must be compatible with HDMI in order to display on the big screen. Guitar Hero, Mario Kart, Pac-Man, Street Fighter, Just Dance, Pong, and Super Smash Bros are great choices for games that your guests can compete against each other in playing. Consider allowing participants to enter by buying a ticket to play; money would go directly to the winner for the grand prize.
Warm up your vocal chords for the ultimate karaoke tournament. Everyone can participate by allowing a certain number of guests to be contestants while the rest of the crowd votes. Crowd votes can be determined through a mobile voting app, paper ballots, or simply by the loudest crowd cheers when deciding who is best. You can display karaoke lyrics on your screen through direct streaming from a laptop. FunFlicks® event technicians can help set up your device to show the lyrics on the big screen synced with contest voices broadcasted from our microphones and music blasted from our high-definition speakers. To make things interesting, have a grand prize for the lucky singer who wins it all.
Movie Trivia Contest
Test your cinema knowledge with a game of movie trivia at your 100 person party. A game of trivia pertaining to the movie you are watching builds up the anticipation for the start time. Make a slideshow with questions and multiple-choice answers for your guests to contemplate. Be sure to show the correct answer after all answers are given. Have fun!

At every event, we bring high-definition speakers that will knock your socks off and a theatrical projector with a crystal-clear display. For optimal viewing, an inflatable event should take place in a setting with minimal lighting and winds of under 15 mph.
LED Display Screens

Using electroluminescent technology, our LED screens generate light safely and effectively at any time of day. Hence, it isn’t a problem if you want to watch a movie in the morning or at night on our LED screens. Our panels and trailers are rated IP65, which means they are both rain and dust proof! Event technicians across the country are available to bring our LED trailers anywhere for you to enjoy the 2023 Oscars on.
