Snowy Weather Indoor Party

School Event: Playing a racing game on an inflatable screen for game night

Stay warm inside and have an indoor movie party! A little snow outside shouldn’t ruin a fun time with friends or family. Before you invite your guests, plan a date and time for everyone to arrive. Once you’ve chosen what day would be best for your event, there are several preparations to take care of before your winter party. Be sure your location is able to accommodate the number of guests you plan on having. Most importantly, proper seating and a designated viewing area for your guests to relax in and for the screen to be set up at should be provided. Having available bathrooms and trash cans is also very important. Be sure your bathrooms are clean and have enough toilet paper and hand soap for guests to use. Trash cans placed around your home will minimize clean-up after your party.

Choosing an Indoor Movie

Once you have made certain that both guests and a screen can be accommodated within your location, choose a movie appropriate for the audience attending. Be sure to account for shared interests between guests and age groups that will be attending. If a movie is not your style, turning your party into a live sporting event is another fun option. Be sure your internet connection is able to freely stream without mishaps, such as buffering or substantial loss in quality. If you have chosen to watch a film, you can always download the movie on your laptop beforehand to eliminate such a risk from occurring. Playing a physical copy of your film on DVD or Blu-ray is another way to watch it on the big screen. Consider having a back-up option in case your primary method of watching does not work properly.

Power Your Indoor Movie Party

In order for your movie event to work, there needs to be a substantial source of power within your home. If you decide to rent a FunFlicks® set-up, be sure to check how much required power you will need to supply in order for your indoor movie party to run smoothly.

Theme for a Snowy Indoor Movie Party

Embrace the winter festivities at your indoor movie party! If you’re planning on having guests over for the holidays, throwing a party in celebration is a great opportunity. Lights, mistletoe, fir trees, wreaths, ornaments, and candy canes are all iconic Christmas decor that will enhance your location for a memorable indoor movie party. Encourage guests to wear ugly Christmas sweaters or Santa hats to get even more into the holiday spirit. Any extra effort you put into decorating the area for your party will be greatly appreciated, but don't get too caught up in the details.

If your party is after the holidays, having a snow day party with a winter theme is a nice choice. To follow a winter theme, snowmen and snowflake decor can be placed around the party location. White and blue would be great colors to stick to as you dress up the area. Don’t be shy; feel free to hang streamers or cover your tables with festive mats. If you are aiming to theme your party around the film of choice, go all out and find movie decorations online or at your local party store. Simply print out characters or designs from your movie and place them around your party area to build up the watch party excitement.

Snowy Indoor Movie Party Activities

Before your watch party begins, having planned activities or games to participate in will make your event even more enjoyable.

Kids Snow Party

For children, making paper snowflakes is fun and easy to do. All you need are safety scissors and construction paper. To begin, fold your paper into a right triangle and cut off the excess. Next, fold the paper in half so that the pointed corners meet. After that, fold your triangle into thirds and meet at the other corner end. Once your triangle is folded into thirds, overlap the right-hand pointed corner over the triangle and trim the two pointed ends at the bottom. Lastly, cut the sides of your triangle with variations of cuts and unfold your paper when done. Now you have a uniquely designed snowflake perfect for your winter indoor movie party.

Adult Snow Party

The oven mitt unwrapping game is exciting to play and easy to understand. Simply wrap a present in several layers of wrapping paper. Once ready, gather everyone to sit in a circle. One player should be wearing oven mitts while the player on the left has two dice. The goal of the game is for the oven mitt player to unwrap the gift before the dice player rolls doubles. If doubles are rolled, pass the gift to the right and the dice to the left. The player who successfully fully unwraps the gift with oven mitts on wins the prize.

For those wanting an alcoholic beverage, spiked eggnog is a holiday classic. Pour 3 cups lactose-free eggnog, 12 cup amaretto liquor, 14 cup white rum, and a dash of ground nutmeg or cinnamon on top for a single drink. Enjoy your holiday drink!

Rainy Weather Indoor Party

kids indoor rain party

Don’t let a storm rain on your parade; have an indoor movie party. Before your rainy day party, it is wise to plan ahead and consider how many guests you’d like to invite. Be sure there are enough trash cans, sufficient power sources, food, drinks, seating, and available restrooms for your party-goers to have a good time. Most importantly, be sure there is enough space for everyone and the activities you have planned. If you are having a watch party, be sure there is an area where all guests can comfortably gather. Both the screen and guests should fit in this dedicated area. Measuring gathering spaces in your home before the event is a great idea to ensure a fun indoor movie party.

Planning a Rainy Weather Indoor Movie Party

For an indoor movie event, have the film available on Blu-ray, DVD, or streamable from a laptop. If you plan on using physical media, be sure it is in good condition with no signs of scratches so the movie can play smoothly. Otherwise, be sure you have a sufficient internet connection so that your movie can stream without loss of quality or buffering on your laptop. Don’t let a bad internet connection ruin your plans. You can always download your movie beforehand to eliminate the possibility of such issues from occurring.

Picking the Right Movie for a Rainy Indoor Movie Party

Centering your party around watching a film indoors is a great choice when the weather outside is rough. Another exciting option is to watch a live sporting event with guests. Whatever you choose, be sure to clearly advertise your plans to your guests beforehand to build the anticipation. To keep everyone engaged, pick a game or movie that everyone can enjoy. Be aware of the age groups attending and shared interests of your guests to choose something appropriate for the party.

Even More Decor

Along with your rubber ducks, use rubber boots to hold flowers. Rubber boots (or rain boots) can be used as a creative and eye-catching centerpiece on your table. For all decorations, colors such as dark blue and gray perfectly match the rainfall party theme. Decorate in accordance with certain colors in mind to make your location look party-ready. Incorporating the movie characters or colors into your party is a clever idea to fully involve guests in the watch party experience. Sometimes, specific character decorations can be found at your local party store or online. If movie character-specific decorations are difficult to find, simply print such characters on paper and paste them around on your walls, cups, tables, or wherever looks good. Decorations are not essential for a good time, but they will make the atmosphere even more enjoyable.

Rainy Indoor Movie Party Activities

Before your watch party begins, having planned activities or games to participate in will make your event even more enjoyable.

Kids Rainstorm Party

If you are throwing a rainstorm party for children, arts and crafts are a fun activity to do before watching a movie. If you plan on using rain clouds as decorations, consider making them as part of a crafting activity at the party. Simply have safety scissors, crayons, and gray construction paper available for your guests to make their own personalized rain clouds.

Adult Rainstorm Party

For adults, bring on the party games! Play some cup pong to make a splash at your next rainstorm party. All you need are red Solo cups set up in pyramid fashion on both sides of a table and a pingpong ball. For those under 21, fill the cups with water instead of alcoholic beverages.

What is a movie without popcorn? Luckily, popcorn is easy to make, cheap, and a classic movie snack enjoyed by many. Pop kernels on the stove or microwave and easily serve them to your guests to enjoy. Don’t forget the butter! If you want to serve your popcorn in the spirit of a rainstorm party, use cleaned/new rainboots as popcorn holders.

Hot green tea is not only very easy to make, but is a soothing drink to have on a rainy day. There are many variations of tea that taste good, but green tea is both comforting and healthy. All you need is hot water and a sufficient number of green tea bags to enrich your drink. Keep your tea in a heat-resistant glass pitcher to maintain the warm temperature. Avoid using a plastic pitcher due to possible melting.
